Congratulations to our Ladies first team for winning Class 5 of the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council Winter League

Stackallen Ladies Tennis had a very successful Winter League Campaign 2018. Stackallen 3 made it through their group but were defeated by a very strong Clontarf side. Stackallen 2 just missed out for a place in the playoff but played very strong group matches.

Huge congratulations to our Ladies class 1 team who were outright winners of class 5 Winter League. The team was made up of Oonagh Duffy and Tracey McCabe at number one doubles, Suzie Califf and Dorothy Crinion at number two doubles and the mother and daughter duo of Ann Gray and Hazel Tobin at number three doubles. The team emerged as winners from their group matches. They then went on to have wins against Brookfield, Sandycove and Newtown Park to book them their place in the final on 25th March. The finals took place in a sunny Glenageary at 11am. Number one doubles were first off the court with a two-set win. After an easy first set win, number three doubles were narrowly defeated in the next two sets. The decision was then down to the second doubles. Stackallen won the first set and were beaten 7-5 in the second, tension and nerves were high and Suzie and Dorothy took a 3-0 lead in the third set. The travelling support from Stackallen was greatly appreciated on the day and assisted with the eventual tight win in the third set with their much-needed support at the side-line.
